TIKTOK SHOCKS

The COVID Pandemic and subsequent lockdowns were a horror show for young people beginning to explore a career in the performing arts.

Theatre Centre and Headlong joined forces with TikTok™ to inspire and connect the next generation of theatre-makers. TikTok Shocks supported 13 exceptional young artists in beginning a career in the performing arts. The artists were:

  • Caitlin Magnall-Kearns (She/they – Belfast)

  • Dan Morrison (He/him – Largs)

  • Daniel Raja (He/him – Llanfairpwllgwyngyll)

  • Eleanor McKenzie (She/her – London)

  • Elizabeth Logan (She/her – Manchester)

  • Hannah Balogun (She/her – London)

  • Leo Shak (He/him – Labert)

  • Leonisha Barley (She/her – Liverpool)

  • Milla Sutton (He/they – London)

  • Stephanie Soh (She/her – London)

  • Tiah-Paige Burrell (They/them – Great Yarmouth)

In the eight weeks leading up to Halloween 2021, the artists were given a series of 24-hour creative challenges to respond to using TikTok.  The creative challenges and the artists’ responses were published on the discovery homepage on TikTok, which launched on 16 October and culminated in a live event broadcast on TikTok on Halloween, showcasing the artists’ incredible work.
